Against Turbines At Chiplow

In May 2007 the power company E.ON announced their intention to build a wind farm on arable farmland between the villages of Syderstone and Bagthorpe, which the power company calls Chiplow.  The villages of Syderstone and Bagthorpe are situated in West Norfolk about seven miles west of Fakenham on the A148 road to Kings Lynn.  E.ON intend to erect five giant 325 foot high industrial turbines on the site, which will be visible up to twenty-five miles away.

The Chiplow site is directly in the flight path of the hundreds of thousands of pink foot geese which visit the Norfolk coast during the winter months.  During the winter of 2007/08 local residents monitored geese movements over the Chiplow site, which amounted to a staggering total of 40,200 pink footed geese.  This short 10 minute film captures spectacular footage from that log.
