Chiplow, as a place, does not exist. It is the name of a piece of ancient woodland
planted some 150 years’ ago.
The power companies love obscure twee sounding
names, it softens the image and as no one knows where it is,
residents do not become
overly alarmed until it is too late.
Approaching Chiplow from the south east, leave the A148 at the Four
Winds
junction and take the B1454 towards Docking. Take the third turning on the left
signposted to Bircham and the entrance to the Chiplow windfarm site
is the first
metal farm gate on the left.
Approaching Chiplow from the north west, leave Docking on the B1454
towards
the A148. Pass through the
hamlet of Barmer and take the first turning on the right
signposted to Bircham. The
entrance to the Chiplow windfarm site is the first metal
farm gate on the left.
