We have had to postpone this event since
we have not received enough promises to make the event worthwhile. Perhaps it was too close to the anemometer
appeal for there to be enough interest.
However, if on 10 June we lose the appeal, we hope that the evening
might be resurrected later in the year.
Thank you to everyone who tendered a promise to date.
AUCTION OF PROMISES
So what is an Auction of Promises?
An
Auction of Promises is just like a sale in a saleroom. Someone has something to offer and someone
else wants to buy it. It’s as simple as
that!
First
of all you need to take a long hard look at all your friends and members of
your family and of course yourself ! Do
they share your concerns about wind turbines?
If they do, then you can proceed.
Now
think about each of these like-minded friends and decide the following :-
What
are their talents, what are they good at, what have they to offer for which
someone else might be prepared to pay?
And “Pay” in its broadest sense is from a couple of pounds to a few
hundred!
So
what might you find amongst your friends and family?
An
artist who might paint or draw a special
picture – a commission for a portrait, a picture of the bidder’s home, a
special scene; or the artist could donate a picture.
A
cook who might bake a special cake – their
special fruit cake perhaps or a special one for a celebration.
Someone who will cook dinner
for 2 or more couples in their own home, or the bidder’s home. This could be combined with a Murder Mystery
dinner party or some other theme.
A
car/bike enthusiast
who would offer a ride in, or on, their precious machine (insurance issues
considered).
A
gardener who would
offer a few hours gardening/pruning/lawn mowing etc.
A golfer/guitarist/
pianist/tennis player/trout fisher/singer in fact absolutely anyone talented at anything who could offer a
lesson.
A flower
arranger to provide an
arrangement of flowers to a colour of your choice.
A cleaner to offer one or two hours Spring
cleaning.
Do you get the idea? Here a few more :-

Well
that’s hopefully got you thinking!
Get
in touch – we’d love to hear your ideas for Promises
and we’d love to raise lots of money.
So what happens next?
You
and your friends to fill in a Promise form
(see below) and on the night of the auction all those who attend will be given
a list of Promises. The Auctioneer conducts proceedings in
exactly the same way as at a Sale and the highest bidder receives the Promise.
We will accept telephone or written bids if you can’t attend on the
night. The money is then collected from the Bidder and passed onto the ATAC
Treasurer!
All arrangements after that are between the Promiser
and the Bidder.
ATAC will take no responsibility for the Promises being correctly delivered.
