Centuries
old, this traditional, spacious, flint, chalk, brick and pantiled property is situated
in the heart of the North Norfolk countryside, yet only a fifteen minute drive
from the sea. The detached house,
facing south, is set in attractive and well maintained, landscaped gardens with
extensive views northwards. Charming
and filled with character, retaining beams throughout, Church Barn offers very

The picturesque village of Syderstone is within
easy reach of the unspoilt North Norfolk Coast, with its sandy and shingle
beaches, harbours, creeks, marshes, cliffs, nature reserves and principal bird
watching areas. The nearest town is
Fakenham (7 miles) which has a good selection of shops, pubs, restaurants, two
supermarkets, bowling alley, library, tennis courts, cinema, weekly outdoor
market (Thursdays) and a racecourse.
There is an 18 hole championship golf-links course at Brancaster amongst
several others in the vicinity, and the stately homes and gardens of Felbrigg,
Holkham, Houghton, Blickling and Sandringham are only a short drive away. The small towns and villages of Docking and
Burnham Market (both inland), Hunstanton, Burnham Overy Staithe, the
Brancasters, Wells-next-the-Sea, Thornham, Titchwell (a key RSPB center) and
Blakeney (all on the coast with harbours and/or sandy beaches) are within 10-20
minutes’ driving distance. There are plenty
of activities for both adults and children, see our Local Attractions page.
Church Barn itself stands alongside the 900
year old, round-towered Syderstone Church, at the end of a private grass and
tree-lined drive, off the Creake Road.
It directly adjoins open countryside, yet is within a stroll of the Lynn
Arms Public House (with food), and is minutes away from the 60 acre Syderstone
Common Nature Reserve, Womack Wood with its three Bronze Age burial grounds,
and many signposted country walks. Less
than 6 miles away there is also the new 42 acre Sculthorpe Moor Reserve, and it
is less than 6 miles to the nearest post office/supermarket in Docking.
