The Street
Syderstone
Circa 2000
The above
photograph was taken from the same spot on 5 November 2000.
The points of reference to note are the street
drain in the bottom left hand corner of the picture and the configuration of
the chimney pots on both sides of the street, as compared with the original
photograph.
The wall on the left of the picture has been
demolished, but for the final upward sweep, and new houses have been built
called “Rectory Gardens”. The third
house down the street on the right hand side was the village store, which
closed in August 2005. The main change
of course is associated with the advent of the motor car, which has
necessitated the introduction of raised pavements for pedestrians.
